Judge Roberts has been named the official Judge of the New York Yankees. The designation, the first of its kind in Major League Baseball history, came after two team leaders, Derek Jeter and Gary Sheffield, insisted on official team support for Judge Roberts. Team ownership, usually circumspect in political battles, agreed to back Judge Roberts on behalf of the team.
